Abstract: Bi-containing glasses BaBi 2 – x Eu x B 2 O 7 (x = 0.00, 0.05, 0.10, 0.20, 0.30, 0.40, 0.50) doped with Eu 3+ is obtained. The dependence of the integral intensity of the luminescence on the Eu 3+ concentration is revealed. The luminescence quenching starts at the Eu 3+ concentrations above 0.20. Other conditions being equal, the maximum luminescence intensity is observed in the BaBi 1.5 Eu 0.5 B 2 O 7 specimen. It is shown that the local environment of Eu 3+ ions does not depend on the Eu 3+ ion content in the studied concentration range.
