Myocardial infarction enterovirus dystrophin dystrophin-glycoprotein complex and gene polymorphisms in elderly patients
Purpose: The purpose of this work was to evaluate a role and mechanisms of active enterovirus infections (EVI), and genetic polymorphisms in the development of myocardial infarction (MI) in elderly patients. Methods: Serum relative quantities of enterovirus antigens (RQEVA) were measured in 204 patients suffering from myocardial infarction (MI) and unstable angina (UA). 94 postmortem heart tissues from patients died for cardiogenic shock (CSh) and heart ruptures (HR) were checked for EVI, and 41 postmortem heart tissues for immunohistochemical detection of EV VP1 antigen dystrophin, and dystrophin-glycoprotein complex. Genotyping was carried out with PCRRFLP in 152 patients. Results: RQEVA was significantly highe
