N2 - A new method for calculating multipole moments with eigenfunctions related to Sturm-Liouville problems is proposed. The method is based on an auxiliary third-order equation and its Laplace transform. The multipole moments for Coulomb and oscillator problems in quantum mechanics are calculated as an application of this method. The relation between the multipole moments for these problems and equations of Heun type is observed.
