The article gives morpho-functional and psychological profiling data of academic athletes of St. Petersburg State University including the anthropometrical measurements (body length, mass), systolic/diastolic blood pressure, vital capacity, timed inspiratory and expiratory capacity test data, Romberg test data, physical working capacity index PWC170. Psychological profiles were based on the following data: nervous system type; motivations for sports; priority motivations; differentiated tests of decreased working capacity; sociometrical data indicative of the mental climate in sport teams and their business/emotional leaders. The article considers in detail sport motivations of students and classifies the decreased working capacities. The morpho-functional and psychological profiling data were used to offer the key approaches and tools to improve the academic education and training process.
