N2 - Molybdenum and its compounds (oxides, sulphides, carbides, nitrides, selenides, molybdates and molybdenum complexes) have a number of applications in alloys, catalysts, electrochromics, sensors, capacitors, batteries, solar cells and so on. Promising works on their nanostructures have been reported as a means to enhance the performance of materials. The present book is an edited volume on molybdenum and its compounds in different applications. There are chapters concentrating on molybdenum and its alloys, molybdenum oxides, molybdenum sulphides, molybdenum carbides, molybdenum nitrides, molybdenum selenides, molybdenum blues, Keplerate-type molecular spheres, molybdenum complexes and molybdates. The book has been divided into four parts with a total of 21 chapters. The first part entitled 'Fabrication and Applications' include chapters focusing on Keplerate type molecular spheres, molybdenum blues, molybdenum (VI) oxides, molybdenum oxide glasses, molybdate-technetium-99m generators, molybdenum compounds in energy storage and conversion, molybdenum based hydrogen evolution electrocatalysts, molybdenum based heterogeneous catalysts, molybdenum cyclopentadienyl carbonyl complex catalysts, polymer-molybdenum diselenide solid electrolytes, and photomagnetism in octacyanomolybdates. The second and third parts focus on 'Electrochemical properties' and 'Thermodynamic and Kinetic properties' respectively. The electrochemical section has chapters on electrochemical characteristics of molybdenum and its oxides such as redox transition, pseudocapacitance, corrosion, electrochromism, anodic oxidation and transpassivity. There are chapters on electrodeposition of molybdenum, molybdenum carbides and nickel-molybdenum alloys from ionic melts or aqueous electrolytes. The 'Thermodynamic and Kinetic' section has three chapters on gaseous molybdates, high temperature molybdenum oxidation and nanometric carbides of molybdenum-titanium-carbon system. The fourth part of the book entitled "Geological and Metallurgical studies" has a few selected chapters on geological implications of molybdenum which includes a chapter on recent methodologies for molybdenum determination in geological matrices and a chapter on molybdenum distributions and controls in groundwater. The final chapter of the book deals with refining of low grade molybdenite concentrates. With its notable editors and team of expert contributors, the book is a handy reference tool for researchers working with molybdenum and its compounds in various applications.
