A new solution to the problem of scattering of a plane electromagnetic wave from a perfectly conducting axisymmetric body is suggested in the framework of the T-matrix method. The scope of the method is studied analytically and numerically. It is demonstrated that the scopes of the method differ substantially for the near-field and far-field zones. It is also demonstrated that the scopes are determined by the shape of the particles rather than by their orientation, size, etc. Computations conducted for spheroidal and Chebyshev particles completely confirmed this conclusion.
