Apatite-bearing rocks in this deposit in Precambrian gneisses and schists contain on average 18% apatite, the remainder being calcite and dolomite. The apatite is the hydroxy-fluor variety with low Sr, REE and Th. The origin of these ores is uncertain and is complicated by late-hydrothermal metasomatism which may have partially mobilized P. -R.A.H.
