N2 - Mathematical models of boundary value problems of elasticity incorporating surface stress are reviewed. In the case of 2-D problems, the basic ideas and the complete set of equations are presented. It is shown singular and hypersingular integral equations which have been derived by solving some 2-D problems using complex potentials and boundary perturbation technique.
