The article highlights professor's M.E. Zdziechowski's (1861-1938) major life stages and the distinctive features of his world view. It is shown that the scientific work of the Polish theoretician of culture, the philosopher, the journalist, and the linguist was carried out in a direct contact with prominent figures of Russian culture of the XIX-XX centuries. Large-scale historical events that took place during his life, decisively determined the themes of his work and influenced the formation of his world view. As a professor firstly at the Jagiellonian University and then at the Stefan Batory University in his teaching, researching and journalistic work he precisely took care of the understanding of the Polish and Russian peoples, advocated rapprochement of Orthodoxy and Catholicism, promoted Russian literature, which he knew well and loved, and gave lectures on Russian religious thought in Sorbonne (1925), which were published later. Involving into the research field this Slavic religious thinker's texts, which still little known in Russia, became possible because of the changing the optics of the vision, or in the result of selecting a new communication strategy that emerged in the post-Soviet period has occurred during the shift of political and ideological regimes. Such mental deconstruction applied to the interpretation of specific cultural figures' contribution as well as the rethinking of their world view, enhances the theory of culture. Introducing the new texts may generate and transmit new meanings, fulfilling the semantic field of culture with a diversity.
