A previously promised simple model for the low temperature paramagnetism of glasses is developed. The nonlinear temperature dependencies of the reciprocal paramagnetic suceptibility of the glasses from systems Ga-Ge-Mn-S and Ge-Sb-Fe-Se are quantitatively described in terms of the model and detailed information about the composition of the second coordination sphere of the transition metals is obtained. This information is compared with the glass forming ability of the glasses.
