The chapter focuses on three main unlearned lessons from the Yugoslav dismemberment. The first one related to the impact of a long economic crisis; the second one related to the uneffective governance in a period of economic crisis with effects on the power legitimization; and the third one on the mechanisms of ethno-national mobilization and their capacity of attacting emotional reactions by a large poart of the population. The chapter then analyzes to what extent these aspects might be also identified in the EU crisis process after 2005 and concludes with some alarming comments for the future of the European integration.
