N2 - A `crater model' of a thermo-field ion source was examined experimentally. Basic experimental characteristics of a stationary thermo-field ion emission were obtained and compared with theoretical calculations performed by the authors under the assumption of the validity of the `crater model'. Experimental and theoretical results were found to be in reasonable agreement.
