The intensity of inhibited radiation of electrons arising during radiation-induced trapping of an electron in free 4f-states of rare earth metals is examined. The intensity of emission as a function of electronic energy attains a maximum in the soft X-ray range. The intensity distribution of the transition is primarily governed by the localization radius of free 4f-states in the metals.
