Abstract: The changes in the parameters of acoustic emission (AE) signals during their passage through a sandwich assembly consisting of two metal sheets and an intermediate polymer layer have been investigated. AE signals are initiated by indenting a hard alloy tip into the metal layer of the assembly. After passing through the polymer layer, the signals are found to retain a spectrum, which is characteristic of the signals appearing in a metal with slight suppression of high-frequency peaks in energy spectrum curves.
