The article discusses communicative strategies used by Republican supporters (individually as well as a result of coordination of efforts by different group members) to defend themselves from stereotyping on behalf of the Democrats. The main focus is on the mechanisms that allow transforming initially defensive strategies into attacking the opponent group. It is also shown how exposing the labelling by the other group helps the Republicans to mirror Democrats aggressive strategies without attracting too much public attention to the fact.
