Groundwater discharge into the Gulf of Finland is examined. Qualitative and quantitative estimates of groundwater runoff are given. It is established that, notwithstanding the relatively low rate of groundwater runoff, it has an essential effect on the environmental state of the coastal zone of the gulf.
