We report new method of electroluminescence (EL) improvement and color control for the ZnS-based phosphors by exposure to gamma-radiation. ZnS:Cu,Al and ZnS:Cu,Br phosphors exposure to 1.25MeV photons improved EL up to 30% at 5...10MRad dose, while emission become greener supposedly due to dissociation of Cui,-Cuzn donor-acceptor pairs. Thus gamma-exposure allows non-chemical patterning of luminescent layers by control of EL color and intensity.
