N2 - This article is based on the representative comparative research of Russian and German students as a part of the generation of the 90s, whose typical features are represented by their perception of society and social problems, by their evaluation of their own social status, by their life perspectives, by the proportions of traditional and modern value orientations, by their political preferences. The questions of political and national self-consciousness of students, the content of the ethnical auto- and geterostereotypes, national prejudices and the ways of their formation among the students are being stud-ied.
