Considering the operationalization of the UN SDG 2030 through the implementation of ESG-strategies by business, the authors study their role in sustainable, environmentally friendly, and socially responsible development. In this context, firstly, the experience of developing and implementing ESG-strategies by business is briefly summarized and their assessment is given based on several international and Russian ratings. Secondly, the role of these strategies in the response of business to acute environmental issues is examined. Thirdly, the prospects for the ESG-initiative are assessed, considering the need to expand the social responsibility of large businesses.
