The pitch-angle scattering of energetic particles in a magnetic field containing a current sheet, analogous to that observed in the region of the magnetospheric tail, is studied by numerical methods. Calculations of a large number of trajectories (about 20,000 for each variant of the model) permitted the construction of a matrix of pitch-angle scattering and the kernel of the integral equation for the equilibrium particle distribution function. The results obtained can be used to interpret observations of the spatial distribution of fluxes of energetic particles in the near region of the magnetospheric tail and at the outer boundary of the belt of trapped radiation.
