The progress made in recent years at the Chair of Optics of the St. Petersburg State University in studying the emission of diatomic quasi-molecules is briefly described. Different spectral features are discussed from a unified point of view based on the Fourier transform of the time-dependent dipole matrix element of the quasi-molecule. Particular attention is given to the description of the spectra associated with transitions forbidden in the limit of large interatomic separations.
