Abstract: The effect a magnetic field has on the parameters of ultrasonic vibrations during laser excitation in magnetostrictive materials is studied. Dimensional effects and quasi-resonant dependence of the intensity of the acoustic response on the magnetic field strength are observed in films of iron–yttrium garnet. The effect domains and domain boundaries in manganese–zinc spinel plates and polycrystalline nickel films have on the characteristics of an acoustic response during laser sound excitation in the presence of a magnetic field is established. The effect the strength of the magnetic field has on the spectrum of acoustic signals in the investigated materials is examined.
