A study is made of the electrokinetic characteristics (concentration, average electron energy, electric field intensity) of a discharge plasma in a mixture of mercury vapor and argon at elevated argon pressures. The plasma characteristics are determined experimentally and also calculated with the use of a theoretical model of the positive column of a Hg-Ar discharge and techniques based on scaling laws (similarity relations). Good agreement is found between the results of the calculation and the experimental data.
