The paper reports an experimenta! investigation of the drag of a circular cylinder in the transverse flow of a gas suspension. The drag of a cylinder in an airflow has been fairly well studied [1, 2], It has been shown experimentally [3] that the presence of small numbers of solid particles in a gas flow can significantly change the aerodynamic properties of the body. A cylinder was chosen for the present study because it is a classical body, and the results obtained in investigations of it can, in a certain sense, be extrapolated to other bodies, for example, airfoils.
