It was shown that F0 male mice obtained by microinjection of human mitochondria into a mouse zygote can transmit foreign mtDNA to their progeny. Apparently, transmission of foreign mtDNA depended considerably on individual characteristics of the males. The distribution of paternally inherited foreign mtDNA among blastomeres was different from the distribution of foreign mtDNA of maternal origin.
