The aim of the study was to establish experimentally the effect of the sign of deformation on the rate of corrosion process. The rate of anodic dissolution of nonalloyed steel samples with a concave and a convex sides was determined. It is shown that initially the rate of dissolution of the concave side is higher, but, as the corrosion time increases, the reversal of the deformation sign is observed. It is noted that the mechanochemical effect of the deformation sign in solid-phase surface reactions (particularly, in corrosion) was first established.
