This article focuses on works by Zhang Biwu, a well-known journalist who wrote in the genre of detective stories. He translated works by M. Leblanc into Chinese, which influenced the choice of the genre. In his stories, Zhang strove to show the background of crimes, those social phenomena that led to the tragedy, the clash of the traditional society and new social trends.
