The last decade of last previous century has given rise of considerable advances in control and synchronization of chaos in nonlinear dynamical systems. Moreover a growing interaction between theoretical physics and control dieory has become apparent. In dns plenary lecture these developments are surveyed and closely examined. Several case examples most characteristic for these developments are used to provide appropriate illustrations. The feedback is the key concept to ail these novel developments. An attempt is being made to define and outline a potentially new discipline of cybernetic physics.
