Abstract: The possibility of the comprehensive study of great arrays of historical manuscripts by a complex of methods incorporating multispectral imaging, X-ray fluorescence analysis, and transmission- and scanning-electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis is discussed. The presented examples of the application of such a complex approach show its high efficiency for the acquisition of significant technical and technological information about the inks without any essential impact on the studied objects of cultural heritage.
