The accuracy of a radiative model of the atmosphere that uses contemporary data on the fine structure parameters of absorption bands and the continuum absorption coefficients for water vapor is analyzed on the basis of comparisons (50 cases) of measured (Meteor-28 satellite) and calculated spectra of the outgoing thermal radiation in the band from 400 to 1300 cm-1. The calculated values were found to be systematically larger than the measured values in the 8-12 micrometre window.-from Authors
