The nonstationary pump-probe interaction between short laser pulses was discussed. It was found that the field of the medium reaction played an important role in the interaction processes. The probe transmission spectra, depending on the probe-pump time delay, showed the appearance of either a specific doublet or coherent dip. By the density-dependent field-matter coupling coefficient and increase during the propagation, the widths of these features were determined.
