A systematic presentation is given of the current state of experimental and theoretical studies of elementary chemi-ionization processes with Rydberg atoms participation. General conclusions are presented about their effect on the macroscopic properties of the geocosmical plasmas. The considered processes are interesting since they may be regarded as prototype of the elementary processes of the light excitation energy transformation into electric one.
