N2 - Purpose of this paper is to study of process of implementation of central banks digital currencies (CBDC) as a new form of central bank money. The CBDC are placed within the typology of modernmonetary forms. The comparative analysis of different CBDC types, as well as the CBDC effects on the monetary and payment systems is presented as well. The properties of CBDC have much more in common with cash issued by central bank than with the electronic money of private issuers or with cryptocurrencies; they can be considered as a new form of money that can be issued for use in both retail and wholesale payments.
