The inertial-range anomalous scaling of a passive scalar quantity advected by the Gaussian velocity field was studied. The corresponding stochastic problem was reformulated as a field theoretic model. As a result, it was possible to identify the anomalous exponents with the critical dimensions of certain scalar and tensor composite operators built of the scalar gradients and to calculate them within the RG and OPE approach in the form of a regular perturbation expansion.
