N2 - Background and Aims: Supernormal vascular aging (SUPERNOVA) can be diagnosed in subjects who present an exceptionally low arterial stiffness for their age and sex. Purpose of this study was to evaluate body composition indicators and classic CVD risk factors in patients with SUPERNOVA. Method(s): 783 men age from 18 to 92 years old (mean age 48.2 +/-0.37 years) were included into the study. Hypertension (HT) was detected in 40.7%, diabetes mellitus (DM) in 1.8% of patients and BMI > 30 kg/m2 in 32.7% of patients. Vascular age (VA) was measured by photoplethysmography. Fat mass (FM), active cell mass (ACM) and water volume (WV) were measured by the bioelectrical impedance method. Result(s): SUPERNOVA phenomenon discovered in 87 participants (11.1%). This group of patients was characterized by a lower prevalence of smoking, hypertension, hypertriglyceridemia and abdominal obesity (20.6%, 44.8%, 15.8%, 38.1%, respectively).
