N2 - Novel approach to methyl 2-aryl-2-(arylhydrazono) acetates via methanolysis of dichlorodiazabutadienes was developed. Hydrogen bonding in methyl Z-2-phenyl-2-(phenyl-hydrazono) acetate was explored by DFT calculations and topological analysis of the electron density distribution within the framework of Bader’s theory (QTAIM method).
