Resistive, magnetoresistive and magnetic properties of chromium dioxide nanopowders CrO 2 are investigated. The powders consisted of either spherical or needle-shaped nanoparticles. The nanoparticles were covered with dielectric shells of different composition and thickness. Anisotropy of the tunnel magnetoresistance was observed for all the powders. It is shown that the anisotropy of the tunnel magnetoresistance of CrO 2 powders is explained by the formation of an induced magnetic texture and is determined by the difference in the magnetization rate of the sample along and perpendicular to the plane of compaction of the powders.
