In this article history of Algol 68, USSR research groups implementing this language and it's impact on the programming as a whole in USSR are described. Algol 68 Working Group headed by academician Andrey Ershov was organized. This group had meetings 4-5 times a year in different USSR cities where Russian terminology, practical questions of translation technique, etc were discussed. History of A68LGU translator development is described. This Algol 68 translator was very popular in USSR both in the universities and industrial enterprises. DSL (Domain Specific Languages) languages based on Agol 68 and their usage in the USSR are shown. Also some questions of Algol 68 use in education and it's role in new HLL (High Level Language) computers creation is mentioned.
