N2 - Airfoils admitting abrupt changes of the lift coeficient at small variations of free-stream parameters are considered. A numerical simulation of transonicfiow is based on the RANS equations using BSL Reynolds stress and k w ! SST turbulence models. The study demonstrates the existence of adverse free-stream conditions for the descendingfiight of Boeing 737 Outboard, J-78, and Whitcomb airfoils.
