Abstract: The problem of using the optical potential to describe resonances in elastic scattering reactions is considered. The ambiguity of determining the angular momenta of resonances with a small reduced width is shown when comparing the angular distributions obtained with Legendre polynomials. The problem of the influence of the discrete uncertainty of the optical potential parameters on the position of resonances is considered.
