abstract = "The historical transformation of a traditional Russian society into a market society appears to be a long lasting, multistep process. In this article we look at the processes of trust transformation during the particular transition period of the 1980s and 1990s. In our analysis, we used empirical data obtained from interviews of entrepreneurs, managers and employees, during 2001–2002, in the Saint-Petersburg region. In the sphere of economic relations, the notion of 'trust' seems to be not only dynamic because of its 'erosion', but also intricate and complex.",
