This literature review analyzes the results of studies aimed at studying the course of pregnancy and the occurrence of complications in childbirth in pregnant women at high risk for post-term pregnancy, and also reflects the current view on the management tactics of patients with a tendency to post-term pregnancy. When evaluating methods of prenatal preparation for prolonged and post-term pregnancy, most studies have shown the greatest effectiveness in preparing the cervix, as well as the lowest incidence of complications in childbirth when usingthe anti-gestagen drug mifepristone compared to other methods of preparing the cervix for childbirth, and it has been proved that the use of the Foley catheter is not only safe, but also highly effective method for ineffective exposure to medication. Despite the huge attention paid to the study of this problem, many issues related to post-term pregnancy and the prolonged pregnancy remain not fully studied and relevant at the present time.
