The generally accepted fact that the dominant structural feature of the Ibero-Romance languages, characteristic of the process of their formation and development, is the predominance of analytical formations, is ambiguously confirmed by corpus statistics. The article shows that corpus data is a peerless tool for linguistic research, in particular, in the field of syntax studies, however, relying on the statistical arsenal of corpora should be used with great caution.
