The article is devoted to the synchronic and diachronic research of the global concept of ECOLOGY. The authors determine three stages of the concept development, at each of which the concept expanded due to the emergence of new semantic features, evolving into a global, socially relevant anthropocentric concept. In synchrony the concept under study is considered as a proposition, all its elements mutually affecting each other.
