In this research, samples of soils and industrial deposits (dumps) in the territory exposed to the zinc ore beneficiation plant of the Chaabet-el-Hamra deposit were investigated. The following mobile forms of Zn, Pb, and Cd were determined by sequential extraction procedure: water-soluble, slightly adsorbed or ion exchange (extracted with a solution of barium chloride), oxidizable (extracted with sodium pyrophosphate solution), associated with carbonates (extracted with acetate buffer solution). It has been established that the most mobile forms (water-soluble and ion-exchange) are characteristic of cadmium. For zinc, the oxidizable form is predominant; at last, for lead, the oxidizable form and the form associated with carbonates.
