This paper is dedicated to a Russian alternative of SWIFT called Financial messaging system of the Bank of Russia (SPFS). In this study authors identify a risk of cutting Russia off from the SWIFT international bank transfer and financial messaging system, justify the necessity of a such system, identify its advantages and disadvantages, evaluate its prevalence and demand. Particular attention was paid to the current practice of SPFS international usage. Plans, strategies and potential installation in EAEU countries and friendly regimes (like Venezuela and Iran) are discussed. The Blockchain technology, the digital currency and the Bank of Russia project of the digital ruble are also considered in terms of international finance.
