The article deals with the work by Flemish artist of the XVII century Andries van Eertvelt from the area of the battle seascape. The stylistic analysis of the painting "The Battle of Haarlem in 1573" is carried out, and the historical event depicted on it is reconstructed. The author concludes about innovative techniques in creativity by Andries van Eertvelt
