The article consideres the concept and implementation of the European biennial of contemporary art Manifesta 10, held in 2014 in St. Petersburg. Of particular interest in the context of interaction between modernity and tradition, the actualization of cultural heritage are projects of Manifesta 10 in the Hermitage museum. The article discusses the features of these projects, their symbolic meaning and their contradictory reception and interpretation.
