The author analyses the role and importance of the chorus in theatrical performance, as well as the most important functions of dramatic the chorus in the socio-political context. The author emphasizes that the chorus was an important part of the dramatic action, it organized a theatrical space, made verbal, musical, rhythmic design of the performance and by using costumes and masks it embodies the aesthetics of dramatic performance. The author notes that the chorus was closely associated with civil community and polis values system, the chorus represented on stage the collective principle as opposed to the individual one.
