The paper investigates lexico-grammatical contexts in which the locative verb SIT is used with nouns denoting inanimate objects, thus realizing its secondary meaning “ to be situated/located”. The verb is stylistically marked and serves to highlight the localization of an object which is the focus of attention. Contextual markers include inversion, foregrounding, etc. As a result, the verb SIT acquires some additional meanings.
